A reminder about Life
I have arrived back to Calgary safe and sound. Had a wonderful time visiting my mom as well as my friends. I just downloaded the photos on my computer so will have photos of my trip over the next week or so.
On Thursday afternoon, one of my mom's closest friends arrived from Southern Ontario. They were staying with us as they celebrated Jackie's niece's wedding. I don't even think Jackie was at the house an hour when she received a phone call. Her sister Barb was rushed to the hospital as she had collapsed at home. Wow - what a blow!! Riding a high of seeing each other (it has been 7-8 years for me) to hitting a low hearing about Barb (I knew her from the hospital). As of today, she is making baby steps (but they are steps forward) - her eyes are open, she recognizes things and her name and even her bed can be elevated. We have been so worried about her - it was good when I left Thunder Bay to see that things will be slow in recovery, but like I said baby steps forward. You will be in my thoughts and prayers Barb - wishing you and your family the best in recovery. I look forward seeing you the next time I am in Thunder Bay for a visit.
Another reminder that life can change in a moment. Of course I know that personally with my sister's death in 1994. So to my family and friends - please know that you mean so much to me. I have been blessed so much to have such friends that have turned into my second family - providing me such love, encouragement and just a sounding board when I need to vent. We have shared so many laughs, and of course tears but you have loved me for who I am - for that I am grateful and blessed having you in my life.
Despite how busy our lives get, every once in a while, tell that person be it family or friend that you care about them or that you love them because life can change without notice.
