Rain, Rain and more Rain
Hello from Thunder Bay. I arrived Thursday afternoon to rain. I am back visiting my mom and friends too. It is a special visit this time around as it is my mom's 65th birthday (this Wed) and she retired from full time nursing work after 33 years working in the Emerg Dept at the local acute care hospital on June 10th/07. My brother arrives on Tuesday so we are taking her out to her favourite restaurant for supper and her friends have planned a BBQ to celebrate both milestones.
Unfortunately since I have arrived it has rained everyday. I have made the most of it despite that. Today we took a drive to Ouimet Canyon (near Dorion, ON). As we were driving out of the city, it started to rain despite it being warm and sunny in Thunder Bay. All we could do was laugh. We pressed on and arrived to the Canyon. We took the walk to the lookout, I took like 2 photos of the Canyon and the buckets let go - I was drenched. We drove to Karen's Kountry Kitchen for lunch to dry off. It was a wonderful lunch - it is just off the TransCanada heading to Sibley Provincial Park. Since being back, my mom and I have played 4 games of Scrabble - she has won 3 of them. I have gotten 3 7-letter words in total during the first two games making the end result close. Our last game tonight - total blowout - she beat me by over 100 points!! It has been great seeing some familiar faces as well. I do hope the weather improves especially by week's end for the BBQ. Seems I am missing the heatwave in Calgary this week though - small blessings.
