The Bruce Rutherford Gallery

For the past couple of days, I have been gradually putting up my pictures around the upstairs of the house. I am fortunate enough to have quite a few of my brother Bruce's art works that he did when he was a teenager. I have a small hallway in between the two bedrooms, so I decided to make it a place to display my Bruce Rutherford's originals. Therefore, the hallway is now called the Bruce Rutherford Gallery. I am so happy to share your gift with my friends Bruce.

All these collections are special to me because the artist is my brother, but the above painting holds a special meaning for me. I was probably 8-9 years old and I went with my brother (he would be 11-12) to an art class at a local school in the neighbourhood. This was his masterpiece.

I consider this a sequel to his first painting. The farm in the winter time.

During his teenage years, he did alot of pencil sketchings. Bruce had created a few animal pencil sketches, many of those went to our Grandmothers. The chimpmuck sketch is dated 1981 which would make Bruce 14 years old when he completed it. I know our Uncle Alan and Aunt Dee have similar animal sketches displayed on this wall too. The below sketch is quite detailed with sheet music and musical instruments too - I think he was in highschool when he did this piece of work.
