Dorm life - upscale living
I arrived Saturday evening from Regina to the UBC Campus in Vancouver - what a change in temperatures for starters. It was -30c when I left Regina and 3 hours later it was +7c!! I love it. I must say - this is a great idea to have right on university campuses - especially for visiting lecturers or like me visitors to the hospital - they have their own space and within walking distance on campus. My walk to the hospital is about 5 minutes!! During the summer they rent out dorms as hostels. One of the major bus terminals is right in front of my building. Depending on my work schedule - I hope to jump on a bus and maybe use it for some sightseeing. Next weekend - I am going to try to see if I can take the ferry over to Sooke to visit a girlfriend from my hometown and a skytrain ride to Surrey to meet up with my cousin who lives in Langley actually. Below are photos of my "dorm" - sure don't remember this as a dorm room - it works perfect for me though.

Kitchen area - okay my excuse was I wasn't the last person to use the toaster - found out that my smoke alarm works just fine and is very sensitive - burnt my bagel this morning - thank goodness it was around 10:30am!!! A decent hour for that to happen. That was an embarrassing moment for sure. What a way to begin the day!!
