Regina - off to Vancouver
Well, another week is done. I will be heading to Vancouver this morning. Very happy as this morning I woke up to it being -30c - okay BRRR!!!
When I arrived into Regina last Saturday, coming down the escalator were 3 Mounties who were there to greet their families. I had to smile - as 4 years ago on Valentine's Day, my girlfriend graduated from the RCMP and the RCMP graduation day is always on Monday. So when I was leaving the airport, I saw one Mountie on his own - asked if he was graduating Monday. He seemed surprised when he replied, yes he was. I told him Congrats.
For me, there wasn't really anything to do in the evening from where my hotel was - unless you want to go to the local casino (not my idea of fun). So, I was shocked to learn earlier this week, when we tried to get me out of Regina on Friday - every flight heading westward with both airlines were sold out until Sunday morning!! It would have been the long way around - but if I could have taken the greyhound bus to Saskatoon and either fly out of there or take the VIA Rail - that would have been great. No-go though. Okay try to make sense of this - for a 2-3 hour drive to go from Regina to Saskatoon - it takes Greyhound 11 hours!!! Who can say - milk-run? It would have been cool to ride the VIA Rail through the mountains especially with all the fresh snow - it would have been beautiful to see. Another time.
I am hoping to connect with some friends who live near Vancouver and next weekend I hope to head to Vancouver Island to visit my girlfriend and see how much her son has grown since I last saw him. That is if time allows with my work schedule - I have 240 charts to be done in 2 weeks.
