Lunch with an Astronaunt

Autograph photograph of Jerry Carr - spent 84 days in space.

Jerry Carr today - now 76 years old. Being an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - Amanda and I enjoyed a lunch with an astronaunt. He was interesting to listen to as he described his career with NASA. Started as an engineer and next thing you know he received the call that he was one of 19 astronaunts choosen in 1966 (he shared there were originally 8,700 applications!!). When he received his first commanding flight, Skylab 4 - he and his fellow astronaunts made a world record for the amount of individual time in space - 2, 017 hours and 5 mins and 32 seconds. Colonel Carr longed 15 hours, and 48 mins during this mission. During the Q&A period, one of the questions was asking how much each mission would it cost? Today, a mission costs around 500 million dollars!!!!!

It was a great meeting someone attached to such history.
