Base Camp - Sea of Pink
As I was the first one at base camp, I took the role of preparing camp. When I arrived the open field was becoming a sea of pink tents - our homes for the next 2 nights. There were 1500 walkers and with 2 per tent, you can only imagine how many tents were needed. The Boy and Girl Scouts volunteered to assist us to prepare our tents. They were great too - they also help me retrieve all my teammates luggage too.
We were E-03 and E-04 - the furthest distance to walk for the bathroom, hot showers, and mess tent (dinner and evening entertainment tent). The grass was thick and lush which also covered the gopher holes so it made walking back and forth a wonderful challenge too.
Great view to wake up to in the morning - Alctraz across the way and the Golden Gate Bridge standing proudly.
