Little House on Kneehill Creek
(Sorry - a bit blurry I was still driving at the time I took this photo - almost at a stop and no other car was nearby so I was safe)
Being a girl growing up in the 70's & 80's, two book series for my age to read were Nancy Drew and of course the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder (made famous by Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert on TV - The Little House on the Prairie). On one of my first times driving up to Three Hills to visit Amy it was on Hwy 21 heading north. The drive to Three Hills no matter what hwy you take (Hwy 2 to the Didsbury turnoff; Hwy 9 or Hwy 21) it is a beautiful drive of rolling hills and valleys - beautiful in the summer time when the crops are in full bloom. I like having little landmarks letting me know I am nearing to my destination - when taking Hwy 21 north to Three Hills, my landmark is this little abandoned wooden house in the middle nowhere really. It is just as you come across the Kneehill Creek bridge and it is there on the right hand side. It just so reminds me of the house in the TV show - the little shed attached to the house was probably the ice house to keep things from melting or rotting, a little porch in the front of the house to relax at the end of the day watching the sun go down.
